Active citizenship means getting involved in the life of your community and nation so that you can help determine the country’s future.

Why does it matter?

• Nurtures a sense of community spirit and integration
• Ensures everyone has the means to participate fully in society
• Fosters respect and social inclusion
• Supports engagement in democratic life (ie. voting, political processes, etc.)
• Ensures citizen’s voices are heard
